The ‘Daegu International Vocal Music Competition’, hosted by the Music Association of Daegu City and organized by the Dongil Cultural Scholarship Foundation, began in 1983 as the ‘National Vocal Music Competition’. Over the past 40 years, it has grown into one of the most prestigious international vocal music competitions in Korea, contributing to the discovery of young vocal talent and producing world-class singers. The Daegu International Vocal Music Competition is not only a cornerstone for the rise of talented young singers who will lead the Korean art scene, but also a stage for them to expand into the world through overseas cultural exchanges.

The Daegu International Vocal Music Competition, co-organized by the Music Association of Daegu City and Dongil Cultural Scholarship Foundation, is now in its 43rd year!
It began as the "National Vocal Competition" in 1983, and over the course of its 40-year history, it has established itself as the most prestigious international vocal competition in Korea, serving as a gateway for talented musicians. We hope to discover ambitious and talented young singers from all over the world and promote Daegu as a UNESCO City of Music and Creativity.
Just as the sweat of a farmer on a hot summer day bears fruit in the fall, we hope that the small fruits of young singers will be realized through this competition and that they will expand their dreams to the world. We sincerely hope that the Daegu International Vocal Music Competition will be a valuable experience for you and an opportunity to further develop your dreams.
